Playcomp participates in the symposium Digital Worlds, Real Impact – The Evolving Role of Games in Society by ECREA.

Playcomp participated in the international symposium Digital Worlds, Real Impact – The Evolving Role of Games in Society by ECREA, organised by UIB from September 25 to 26, 2025, where the role of video games as an artistic and cultural medium was reaffirmed.

The meeting brought together more than fifty video game experts from fields such as education, psychology, sociology, and game studies, among others, with the aim of reflecting on the role of video games as a cultural and social phenomenon, and also analysing their impact on society. Through presentations and debates, topics such as the use of video games as a learning tool were addressed, among others.

Members of the Playcomp research team, such as Jorge Oceja and Júlia-Vilasís, participated in the presentations both as speakers and moderators. Among them, Jesús Salinas, Santos Urbina, and Sofía Villatoro were also present to discuss the design of educational activities for the video game Journey from the perspective of game studies analysis models.

ECREA stands for the European Communication Research and Education Association, a society of communication scholars dedicated to the development of research in communication and higher education subjects on the European continent.
