The Playcomp project, led by the UIB, participated in the European Conference on Games Based Learning 2024, held in Denmark on October 3 and 4, 2024. It is the most important event dedicated to educational video games.

At this conference, Jorge Oceja, main researcher of Playcomp, along with Júlia Vilasís-Pamos, presented the main lines of the project. Additionally, their work was recognised with the best poster award, which you can see below.

Playcomp is a project funded by the State Research Agency, aimed at harnessing the potential of video games to develop ethical and socio-emotional competencies in high school students. The team is composed of 17 researchers from 12 European universities.

The researchers will design an educational resource based on a selection of independent games to promote two key competences of the European Union among students: personal competences (social and emotional) and civic competencies (for example, empathy, emotional self-awareness, or active citizenship). In turn, they will evaluate how the program impacts the improvement of these competencies.

The project is being implemented in public and charter schools in different parts of Spain and also has an international presence in a center in Portugal.
