Jesús Salinas, professor of educational technology at the UIB, is the guest on episode #2 of the Playcomp podcast.
The second episode of the PLAYCOMP podcast is now available on streaming platforms. In this episode, we interview Jesús Salinas, who provides expert insights on integrating video games into education.
Throughout this episode, Alejandro Lozano and Jesús Salinas reflect on the role of teachers and the integration of video games in education. Both emphasize the need to move beyond the superficial use of video games and commit to well-founded pedagogical approaches. In this sense, Jesús Salinas underlines: “It’s not about using video games in the classroom, but about integrating them with a pedagogical purpose.”
Furthermore, Jesús Salinas points out that Playcomp uses selected video games to bring aspects of informal education into formal education, with the aim of developing specific skills.
Jesús Salinas addresses the challenges of its implementation in the classroom, as well as the importance of teacher training and generating meaningful educational experiences to connect research with the reality of schools.
Playcomp is a project funded by the Spanish State Research Agency. It has a team of 17 researchers from 12 European universities who are analyzing teachers’ video game literacy. The main objective is to enrich students’ educational experience and promote the development of civic and socio-emotional skills through the use of independent video games.
